Writing as a Tool for Healing

with Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros

Tuesdays, March 17th - April 14th, 2020 | 6:00pm-7:30pm

For most of us, life may provide sudden, disorienting and even disabling challenges. How do we stabilize ourselves as we find our way through the unknown? By writing together we will energize our capacity to find spaciousness and compassion for ourselves and others as we move through crisis and suffering.

Led by writer Alexandra Vassilaros, who lost her husband 4 years ago, this workshop permits our shared complications to become our shared humanity, our similar struggles with love, loss and grief may become orienting, tenderizing and even reassuring. Responding to simple prompts that catalyze creative inquiry, we will quietly listen, read and write our way out of isolation which can help us notice what else is possible.

Feedback from past participants:

“Writing as a Tool for Healing was a really wonderful experience; so moving, and gut-wrenching, and exhilarating, and powerful, and comforting.” -Mike

“This workshop allowed me to access memories and experiences that are hard for me to face completely, and, without the group's support, might choose to avoid. Even as I want to remember everything, I usually can't let myself "go there." Your group motivated me to do that--and I am grateful for that because even as it hurts, I know I will be glad I did it in the long run.” -Ramona

“When I arrived, I hoped for rules and no judgement, but venturing well beyond that, you gave us scaffolding, inspiration, a springboard and a cushioned landing for thoughts and feelings.” -Jill
