Contemplative Medicine Conversations: The Medicine of Community

with Sensei Chodo Robert Campbell, Jasmine D. Hill, PhD, Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison and Rev. Cynthia Carter Perrilliat, MPA

Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 7:30pm-8:30pm ET

“When we talk about a community of care, we really envision an all hands on deck model. Health is not something that begins or ends at the hospital. The more people we have involved and prepared to engage in the conversation the better it is for everyone as they’re seeking out care.”

Jasmine D. Hill, PhD
Contemplative Care Symposium

Community, connection, and meaningful relationship are the bedrock of New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care’s new Contemplative Medicine Fellowship—a program specifically developed for practicing physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who want to transform their role as clinicians and lead change in the culture of care.

Join us for a free online event with Fellowship visiting faculty members Jasmine D. Hill, PhD and Rev. Cynthia Carter Perrilliat, MPA. As part of our Contemplative Medicine Conversations series, they will join Fellowship guiding teachers Koshin Paley Ellison and Chodo Robert Campbell to discuss the role of community in alleviating suffering and promoting collective healing in our strained health care systems.

Jasmine D. Hill, PhD, is a sociologist and Ph.D from Stanford University whose scholarship explores both the causes and consequences of social mobility for Black Americans. Broadly speaking, her scholarship and teaching interrogate the intersections of inequality, racism, class, and culture.

Rev. Cynthia Carter Perrilliat, MPA, is Co-founder and Executive Director of the Alameda County Care Alliance Collaborative (ACCAC), a faith-based program in partnership with local clinical, academic, and community organizations. She has over 25 years of experience as a change agent in healthcare, marketing and communications, biotechnologies and community organizations.

While this year’s inaugural Fellowship is currently only open to physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, this webinar will be engaging and appropriate for all healthcare professionals wishing to explore a contemplative approach to care—all are welcome!

Healthcare professionals, caregivers, and those interested in becoming caregivers may also be interested in our nine-month Foundations in Contemplative Care training. Since 2007, this graduate-level training has transformed the lives of individuals from across the country and around the world by supporting the integration of spiritual practice and care.
