Active Listening and Communication
with Dr Leslye Noyes, MDiv, PsyD
Saturday, December 8th, 2018 | 10:00am to 3:00pm
How can we better understand one another? Better understand ourselves? Communicate in a way that expresses what we most want to say?
Carl Jung’s psychoanalytic concepts and approach to dialogue offer ways that will help us be active listeners. We will enhance our capacity to recognize the meaning embedded in the stories we tell and the stories we hear. We will learn to acknowledge the deeper truths ingrained in the seemingly ordinary.
When we actively listen, intimacy is heightened. We experience the truth of another’s reality. We engage with generosity, igniting the feeling of being deeply understood. And when we truly hear the stories we tell, that same generosity and intimacy is extended to ourselves.
This workshop is both didactic and experiential. Through group demonstrations participants will practice “translating” and will learn to hear ourselves and others more deeply.
As possible, participants are encouraged to bring examples from their clinical settings.
5 CE’s available for nurses and social workers
