DESCRIPTION: \nCatch Your Mind: Exploring the Teachings of our Female Ancestors\nwith Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison\nSaturdays, September 14th, 2019 – June 6th, 2020 from 9:00am-4:00pm \nDates: Sept 14th, Oct 19th, Nov 9th, Dec 14th, 2019 and Jan 4th, Feb 15th, March 21st, April 18th, May 16th, June 6th, 2020\n \nOur lineage, which flows from the Past Seven Buddhas and Shakyamuni Buddha, rests at the core of Zen practice and is a blood line of Buddhist teachings passed from teacher to student. This transmission has, for 91 generations, included only a male gendered lineage chart, until our Founders’ teacher, Sensei Dai En Friedman. Since the beginning days of Buddhism, women have practiced, and the teachings show how they wholeheartedly co-created our history and transmission. Responding to a call for change, the Soto Zen Buddhist Association, in 2010, approved a document honoring our female ancestors and a richer history of Zen continues to emerge. Female ancestors dating back from the time of the Buddha continue to teach us today. Who were these women? What are their stories? How can we honor and practice their teachings?\n\nJoin Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison for a year-long practice and study of our female ancestors. We will meet monthly for a morning of silent practice and an afternoon of study and exploration together.
